The average life cycle of an outdoor synthetic turf field is 10 years based on normal hours of use. The construction of the field base and proper maintenance protocols are an essential part to increasing longevity and durability of a field.
The Worldwide Turf Inc. team has constructed and installed synthetic turf projects all over Canada and in the U.S. Please visit our PORTFOLIO to view our project list. Please note this list is not all-inclusive. Please CONTACT US if you would like further information.
Synthetic turf fields are less maintenance intensive than ever before. However, aftercare maintenance is crucial to the longevity and durability of your field. Once a project is complete, our customers receive maintenance training and a detailed maintenance guide that thoroughly outlines recommendations by the manufacturer. We recommended following these daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly guidelines for routine care. Worldwide Turf Inc. also offers customers yearly maintenance programs. If you have a specific aftercare question or would like more information, please CONTACT US.
For infill systems, rain is your best cleanser. Rainfall gently cleans the turf fibers of dust, pollen and airborne pollutants in a way that is difficult to duplicate in any other fashion. For non-infill systems, litter removal and vacuuming are the recommended protocols for cleaning the turf system. Please refer to the manufacturer’s MAINTENANCE MANUAL for further instructions regarding cleaning your synthetic turf.

On average the installation of a full-size synthetic turf sports field takes two-three weeks.

There are more than 50 independent and credible studies conducted across North America validating the safety of synthetic turf and rubber infill.
Please refer to the STC WEBSITE for more information on this topic.
When synthetic turf is exposed to direct sunlight, some synthetic turf fields have reported surface temperatures significantly hotter than the surface temperature of a natural grass field. In such conditions, the use of organic infills may reduce surface temperatures by 30% compared to the use of standard sand/rubber infill. The surface heat on synthetic turf is usually restricted to 6”-12” of depth and after 12” of depth, temperatures compare to those of natural grass fields. Nearby trees and bushes can provide shade to decrease the surface temperature of synthetic turf on playgrounds and landscape areas.

We recommend using shock and drainage pads that are made from 100% recycled post-industrial cross-link closed-cell polyethylene foam. This environmentally friendly project helps to protect both children and athletes from injuries, including concussions. The standard synthetic turf sports field infill is an SBR Rubber/Sand Mix. However, there are many alternative options of infill for use depending on project goals and budget. These options include TPE, Coconut fiber, coated sand, cryo infill, walnut shells, cork, wood chips, coated rubber and more! Please CONTACT US if you have any questions about infill for your synthetic turf project.
The main risk associated with building an ice rink over turf is causing damage to the fibers through bending or crushing. This puts the synthetic turf system at risk for decreased playability and durability. Our recommendation would be to increase turf infill levels to the top of the fiber before placing plywood down. Please CONTACT US if you have any further questions or concerns.
